Data uit huwelijksbijlage van zoon Cornelis, ook een notariële akte van bekendheid betreffende het overlijden van de vader: "dat van dit overlijden eenig nader bewijs aan de belanghebbenden is ter hand gesteld, waarschijnlijk veroorzaakt door de daarop volgende stremming der scheepvaart en de overgang der Colonie aan de Engelschen". Cornelis junior is in dienst van de Marine. Op VOC opvarenden wel een Cornelis Groen gevonden uit Venhuizen die in 1788 uitvaart voor de VOC als (onder-)scheepstimmerman, wiens dienstverband op 27-10-1790 ontbonden wordt door overlijden in Azië. Klaas Boot came from a sporting family. His father Klaas sr. participated in 1928 in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. All three of his sons were good gymnasts, but Klaas jr. was the best. He excelled mainly on the vaulting horse.
On May 10, 1949 in Amsterdam, he won his first of ten consecutive Dutch championships. It would certainly have been eleven times when the National Championship of 1953 was not canceled because of the floods. In 1956 he was voted Sportsman of the Year.
